Good evening!

I will be pleased if anyone can tell me more about this rifle and its maker. It has a set of two barrels (7mm Rem Mag & .458 Win. Mag.) The action is a DWM Argentino. It seems the barrels are interchangeable without the use of tools. I think the barrels are engraved C. L. Moose

From the pics I assume the knurled collar works like the barrel nut on a Savage.....what is the smaller knurled piece to the left on the 2/5 pic ?? is it fixed or does it slide ??

Roger

Interesting, looks like two different barrels were setup and headspaced for that action then a knurled piece to make it easier to remove and install a barrel. Did the rifle come with a torque spec for the barrel being installed ? Or is there a witness mark on the bottom of the barrel and action that need to be lined up?

How does each barrel shoot?

I never fired the rifle, we have had it in our shop for maybe 10 years. No specs were provided for torque. I will take some photos of the whole rifle when I get back to work.

@Gusloff
Seems a variation of the Brewer nut system on the Savage rifles. Ugly but effective.

Any pics of the entire rifle and its second barrel ?
I've always had an interest in the various take-down designs.

@yumastepside
Ive always liked the interrupted thread on the barrel for M17/P14. Quarter turn and the barrel is out. Put new barrel in turn and done
One barrel in 25-06 the other in naturally 35 Whelen.
Even 300 win mag and 458.
My gunsmith would have done it until he told me the cost. Fortunately I was sitting down at the time.

I'm hoping to build one this year. Either in a Brno 21 or on my Kimber. Mauser I'd like with interrupted threads. Kimber I'm gonna leave full threads. That is if we can weld the recoil lug to the receiver somehow.

The gunsmith always says I dick around too much. He is not wrong.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.
