Learning from filming a hunt

I had a 10 day hunting trip in July 2024 filmed. First it turned out amazing but second in watching it I noticed a habit that I picked up while shooting from sticks. When I lined up the shot I would take my left index finger and hold down on the barrel. I noticed some of my shots would hit left or right by several inches. Not enough to make me miss but enough to hit a few inches left or right. I think this is invaluable tool to continually improve my hunting ability.

Yes sir 300 win mag. I did use my custom 7mm rem on the cull impala but it weighs over 14lbs so the Tikka got most of the work

You make an excellent point. Being in front of the camera exposes everything. I'm fine on the gun safety etc but I hate it when my hair is sticking out of the back of my cap!

Rifles I used.
1 Cull Impala taken with custom Rifle in 7mm Rem mag shooting 155 Grain terminal Ascent. Rifle is built on a Weatherby Mark V action with a spiral flute barrel from Hart in Sendero profile. Named blaffende meisie or barking girl by my PH due to the muzzle blast.
14 Animals taken with a Tikka T3 Roughtech in 300 Win Mag shooting 200 Grain Terminal Ascent. Named een en klaar or one and done by my PH.

I hunted with Kian in June of this year. My first safari. The guy knows his stuff !!! I will be returning to hunt with him in 2026.
