What would be a fair price for new Hornady 50ct. box of brass? I don't have a rifle (yet) in that cartridge, but I've found some brass.

Loaded ammunition in 416 Ruger is going for $5 per round, so brass should be less than half this price IMHO.

I have 100pc of Hornady new 416 Ruger I could let you have for $175 + $20 shipping USPS priority. USPS money order, cashier's check, 10 day wait for your personal or business check to clear. I was going to build the rifle, but changed my mind and went with the 416 Howell instead. I also have 50pc of Hornady new 375 Ruger formed from basic brass so no headstamp that could easily be necked out to 416 for $75. $270 for everything.
I can have everything boxed up waiting for your check to clear.

Thanks, but I'm still contemplating whether or not I want to go the .416 Ruger route or not. And, what is the .416 Howell cartridge specs as I've never heard of it before? Thanks!

It' based on 404 Jeffery case cut to 2.50 and neck expanded to .416. Virtually identical to 416 Rem in an '06 length case. 400gr at 2450fps. Case drawing and more info is available on AmmoGuide, but you must join to view specifics. A 1 year subscription is about $20. I use it extensively.

I've got like half a box of ammo if you want it.

Thanks Philip, but I’m just contemplating for now whether or not I want to actually go down the .416 Ruger rabbit hole.

I understand. If you do then we may find ourselves tracking buffalo together

I was beginning to think that I was the only one with a .416 Howell. Had mine made up in 1983 and it got me a very nice cape buffalo with Hornady 410 gn solids and 760 powder. These days I use 400 Barnes Banded Solids with Varget or 350 TSX with AR-Comp. The above two loads go into the same group!

Mine's not built yet, but it is next on the list after I get back from Africa. I can't afford to save for Africa and build a rifle at the same time. I'm working a deal to buy a 50 B&M. If that falls through I'll be taking my 416 Taylor. Then again, I could use the money I had saved for the B&M to build the Howell. I have an action, a barrel, a stock, dies, 100pc of formed brass, and a Smith rearing to go.
