After all the debate, questionable claims and confusion………..Dalton & York Safaris have re-signed the Omay for the next 5 years.

In my view a well deserved result to a messy and non supportive debacle.

Anyone hunting or booked with them can now breathe easy and look forward to a fantastic experience with a true pair of hunters! I can’t wait to book my next one!

Great to hear this has all been cleared up! Congrats to Dalton and York- two stand- up guys that hunt hard and operate fairly.

Congrats Dalton & York. Glad this got all cleared up. I have been waiting to book a 2025 possibly late 2024 (if available) trip Zimbabwe. Based on all the reviews D&Y and two other outfitters are the top of my list.

From the title, I thought they were no longer going to be at Omay. Then, I realized you meant "re-sign".

I just went there immediately. Read the first post and was confused.
Resign or Re-Sign .... two different things. Bloody hell.

While it’s good news for Dalton & York, I’m sure it’s disappointing for Martin, especially since Dalton previously worked under Martin. As someone in the outfitting industry, it’s never a happy moment when a previous employee that you groomed now competes against you for areas and ranches. Happened to me once but I overcame it later. There’s no loyalty in this world anymore and that’s unfortunate for all sides. All it does is drive up prices. See below. I have not hunted with either company. Just making an observation.

And I don’t think a fair one. The way l understand it Martin left the Omay to focus on Matetsi.

Then why did he post that he thought he had secured the same 5-year lease for Omay? Doesn’t pass the smell test no matter what. Dalton did work for Martin. I hope they parted on good terms or still will work together. The industry is too small for conflicts.

We view things differently, while I admit I'm not an outfitter. I have brought up people in a different business. They branched out on their own. They are now successful business owners that competed against myself. I was completely fine with that, it means several things to me. 1 the person I hire did have the drive I was looking for. 2 I must be a decent teacher. 3 some people have more ambition then you have opportunity to provide. It's a big world we live in, if you are a good person that takes care of people at a good price point, work usually follows.

Absolutely true for business in a large open industry. But safari areas are not an open marketplace. It’s a zero sum game for limited areas and can lead to hard feelings.

MP posted that he had Omay north knowing good and well that many people myself included had hunts booked and deposits in for that area…. I thought that was bad form; especially since Dalton Tinks last posts were 2015 advertising for MP in good faith when he worked for MP.

Why would MP abandon Omay North and then try to get it back after a former employee invested so much time and money????

I know what it’s like to have a former employer try to sabotage business dealings and that’s what it seemed like to me.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
