Here is a thread where we can share brands of clothing and gear that is specifically for ladies.

I thought it would also be good to share different ideas of what has worked for ladies hunting so we can have a resource here on AH.

I have personally had success with prana pants, nearly anything Sitka, and love my Crispi boots and my Courteney boots.

Sitka has a really cool Bino harness that is completely adjustable and I also use a Rick Young outdoors harness that is great!

I have a few tops from tag safari however, I have to get a men’s small to get good sleeve length.

Feel free to ask questions and post pics! We can gather a lot of useful information for our female hunting population here!

I have probably tried everything on the market and I am happy to answer any questions to help!

Happy Hunting (even if it is for hunting gear:) )

Gina

My wife had very good luck with Under Armor ladies hunting clothes, but has recently become a Sitka convert… Sitka, while it comes at a premium cost, fits her well, is comfortable, and lightweight compared to other options that offer equivalent warmth…

She’s sold on her courteney boots as well.. but I think I have her talked into trying some bespoke boots from James Leddy as an alternative.. (while I love courteney.. I love my custom James Leddys more)…

KUIU is now offering clothing for females too.

Here is a pic of some prana pants. They have a drawstring in addition to the buttons and zipper.

They also roll up so they can be work as capri or crop pants and have straps and snaps to hold them there. They come in several colors also!

Here is my Sitka Bino harness. All the straps are completely adjustable to make it fit well!

As a father of 4 daughters, I have heard the complaints about the lack of quality and correct fitting hunting clothes for years. I am not too familiar with it, but there is a brand called "SHE OUTDOORS." I believe Cabelas and Bass Pro carry the line (not exactly a great endorsement).

On a related topic, a few years ago I saw an article about a young lady petroleum engineer from LSU (I am an old petroleum engineer from LSU) that was not happy with the lack of nice styling, fire retardant wear for ladies in the oilfield. Interesting story:

Thanks for the information Gina. I don't really have anything to share right now. My clothing is basically a mismatch of stuff.

I recently bought a couple of shirts from a 5.11 Tactical store and found about half the store was dedicated to women's clothing. Lots of different styles and it was well built. Although my bride wasn't interested at the time, she was eyeing a few items.

January is always a good time to hit the 511 retail stores… they do massive after christmas clearance sales…

They offer several different womens cut pants and shirts that are very suitable for hunting…

They have a 20% off sale going on now!

Wouldn't it be better for women to sew their own....
Wow. Seriously?!??

Unless your profile is a lie, one would *think* that a nearly 70 year old minister would know better than to make such a comment.

The title of this thread is quite self explanatory. If you have nothing helpful to contribute but instead only offer sarcasm and rude comments, kindly stay OFF this thread.

Thanks!

@Just Gina does the prana clothing do ok with thorns? I have a hunt coming up this summer with my daughter and sister, so I’m paying attention attention to this.
I’d like to find something that is a good balance between durable and quiet.

They have mostly used Kuiu clothing. The kuiu puffy coats were well liked, but that is for Montana fall hunting.
Kuiu rain gear worked great in England deer stalking over Christmas.
Lululemon is a primary choice for my daughter, but now I’ll have to ask if she has the right tans/brown/dark green for africa.

Are you married? If you are, you must be very liberal with your wife's free time! To think that she can sew her own hunting clothes.

My wife just doesn't have the time! I keep that big iron ball that is chained to her leg in the kitchen most of the time. I let enough slack out on the chain two days per week so she can get into the laundry room. And every Saturday I actually turn her loose so she can scrub floors and vacuum the whole house. If she been a really great wife the prior week, I'll sometimes let her do dusting on Mondays and then as a special treat, she gets to wash windows every few months;)

Of course other than for hunting trips, all she requires for clothes is a gunny sack with holes for her head and arms.

Totally ridiculous of you to think she has time to sew her own hunting clothes.... yeesh!

@Tra3

Hi! Yes to both durable AND quiet! I really need to do my hunt report for my last hunt in Tanzania. I have walked and crawled through thorns, briars, and everything else Africa has to offer. I have some Kuiu pants I got after my last hunt with built in knee pads, however have not “field tested” them. They fit great however!
My experience with lululemon is limited to their amazing leggings and other workout clothing but I too am a fan of their clothing I have tried.
I have found the prana pants to be very resilient and I have worn them on 3 trips to Africa. I have a couple of pairs of Tag Safari cargo pants and the knees are double layered and a rock cut through both layers of fabric and then gashed my knee open as well. I have slid, actually fallen, crawled, and scooted in my prana pants and they are still looking great and ready to go again! I like the colors they offer as well. I believe they come in 3 lengths.

All my rain gear is Sitka. I have a lot of both Sitka and Kuiu tshirts and love them!

Perhaps Mr. Steve White was simply inartful in his statement? I'm just playing devil's advocate; perhaps he'd like to elaborate. I am sure he has a wife, daughter, mother, or niece who he would like to introduce to hunting or who is into hunting and has something to contribute through him.

My wife likes Decathlon (not sure if you have that in America), Cordings and Orvis (both expensive and she thinks the quality has slipped) and Azulwear for brilliant value African clothing. They are based in South Africa but will post anywhere.

A lady on safari is an excuse to go all out. James Purdey & Sons has what you need. Also Safari Outfitters.

My wife loves the traditional hunting clothes for everyday wear. They are usually a much higher quality than what she can find in the typical women's clothing stores. Dubarry, Barbour, some Scottish clothing lines, etc.

Btw @Kevin Peacocke : if I remember correctly you will be going to Scotland this year with all your ladies. I would strongly suggest (if possible of course) to spend a day in "The House of Bruar" in Blair Atholl. They (and you) will absolutely love that place. You might need to increase your credit card limit however.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
