Hello everyone! I've chatted with a few of you about your elephant hunt, and i'm ready to commit to a 2024 or 2025 elephant hunt. My goal is to get an exportable trophy elephant above 25 lbs (i know some of you don't consider that a trophy, that's fine). Ideally an elephant within budget. I'll be importing to Utah, so hopefully everything works out. Elephant has always been a dream of mine, I can't put it into words. They are majestic, and call my name.

I'm looking for insights for those of you who have hunted elephant, and what your experience was like with your outfitter. I'm also looking to hear from outfitters about elephant hunts or specials.

As of now, it's time to do some serious training in socal and Utah, If you know a gun range, let me know. I'm newer to hunting so i have lots of questions. Here's to a new year, and a new outlook to getting serious about elephant!

Thank you to some of you who have inspired me.

Gun range in utah or cali?

What caliber are you planning to use. Most ranges have caliber limits and with elephant on the menu, you could be beyond some of them.

Lee Kay is the obvious choice right on I-80 but my favorite is North Springs in Price-both in Utah-although west of the Payson landfill is free and easy

Happy training. Enjoy the hunt planning.

It's going to depend on which i can handle the best, and right now it's looking like a 375 H&H, i still have some time to make that decision

Welcome to AH, I hope your planning for elephant hunting goes well!

Hello and welcome to the forum. My husband also dreams of hunting elephant but if he does, it will be a management bull. We are also on a budget. I don't hunt but I love to go with him. I'm a bit worried about the elephant hunt though. They say you hunt lion with your heart, leopard with your brain, Cape buffalo with you guts, and elephant with your legs. I might have that a bit messed up but I think I got it right. I'm worried about keeping up for 10 or more miles a day, etc.

Anyway, I'm excited for you to have your dream come true. Welcome to the forum! And Happy New Year!

Giday elephantmaster2 and welcome to the A H forums.

Welcome to AH elephantmaster. You have the aim, now to fill in the steps. What country is your preference?

I wish upon you all the luck in the world with your quest on hunting an Elephant. I had the opportunity to fulfill that dream in 2022, and after several months I am still on cloud no9!
As Sue said, you hunt Elephant with your legs - I can vouch for that. But boy-oh-boy, my heart, brain and guts was put to the test too!

Please keep us posted regarding your research and planning, I for one would love to follow this.

As for a 375H&H for the hunt - it will get the job done. I used 300GR Peregrine VRG-2'S and it took the bull down on the first shot. As with any other hunt, shot placement is key.
And yes, it is definitely one of the most exciting hunts I have done!!

Great question, in terms of price Zim looks like it might be a winner, but i'm keeping my options open. Honestly the experience of hunting with a good crew ranks high on my list.
For the modest trophy bulls, or tuskless Zim seems to have the most to offer whilst Botswana looks to be the big ivory turf.

Great looking elephant! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm looking forward to it!

Welcome to the AH Forum. If you are interested in importable elephant let us know in the past. Our elephant have been allowed import into the USA. I am not saying that it is easy.

Things that will effect your cost is location and the number of days that you wish to hunt. All of our hunts are all inclusive.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx
