Hello Adam12,
Don't bog down on lion, unless you are wealthy, most of us will never be able to afford one (although a lioness permit can sometimes be located at an affordable price to us Working Class folk) .
Lion are sort of like gold bricks, we rarely get to even see one but when we do, it is impressive to look at, even though we know we can never afford to own it.
I've been to Africa 4 times, currently planning my 5th and I expect to croak without ever hunting lion.
It is OK because, I am very blessed to hunt other species in Africa as it is.
Most men are guilty of a wasted life (spent in front of a television and puttering with yard work, then occasionally going to a baseball game).
You obviously are not one of them and you can quietly revel in that.
Furthermore, the fact that you are going on a hunting trip to Africa is your #1 trophy.
If you don't try too hard to set tape measure records, and instead allow yourself to relax and absorb what the tradition of hunting in Africa is, it will change you.
Speak very much with PH references prior to selecting one, then consult your chosen PH in all things and your safari will more than likely be a pleasant success.
Lion or no lion, you will return to your home a different person.
Regards,
Velo Dog.
