Zebra rug

Question for the experts , I’ve seen zebra rugs where I think or it feels like your just walking on the flat skin with a flat leather edge this skin is smooth and flat as a pancake . I just got one back that has a felt backing on it and it’s puffy to walk on and the skin is not completely smooth and flat . What do I need to tell the rug lady how to fix this ?

Realistically, google a taxidermist in your region who does animal rugs and ask. They may be able or willing to correct what may just be poor craftsmanship.

One thing I have done to mine when I got it was place a damp towel on it then iron to steam out wrinkles. Mine has a felt backing

make sure you tell them you want HD felt. When mine came back my wife looked at it and commended that it was the cheapest piece of felt she had ever seen and very loose. I was so thin and
