I'm in need of a winter project, and I'm considering building my own wall habitat for my upcoming PG hunt. Here is a picture of what I had in mind. Does anyone have any insight or advice for me? This isn't necessarily to save $ from the taxidermist, but more to have something to do and it means a little more if my taxidermy has a little sweat labor into it.

Love the idea! My wife likes to do crafts and says things like "why spend $1000 buying something when you can make it yourself for $1500!" ;)

Just kidding... well, sort of. LOL

Good luck and post pics along the way so we can all share in your project:)

I enjoy tinkering with habitat, when I get a mount on some sort of base I usually throw the vegetation away and buy some more appropriate looking vegetation that resemble the area from where the animal came from. To me the vegetation looks fake so I replace it with stuff from state side taxidermy supply stores.

Here is an example , I didn’t like the green stuff so I replaced it with seemed to be more appropriate looking vegetation.

Good luck with the project.

McKenzie taxidermy supply has the supplies you need or you can build your own. I cast real rocks and create reproductions for myself, but it is time and resource consuming. It works for me as I can use the same rock molds repeatedly and use different colors to suit different projects.
One thing to consider is can you keep it clean? The more grass and dirt you add the harder it is to keep clean and unbroken . Rocks are easy to clean-

I do the same thing. I'll take pictures of the landscape of where I shot the animal. Appropriate vegetation makes a huge difference.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
