Looking to get a general opinion as to the estimated value of this rifle in excellent condition, possibly unfired. Met up with a guy I haven't seen in years today and he has one he picked up that he has not shot and had no history on when he bought it, but there isn't a scratch on the wood (good wood but unremarkable) and the metal is perfect. He is reluctant to fire it for several reasons (medical/nerves) and wanted to know if I wanted to buy it. Being a lefty, it's not really going to work for me, but I told him I'd see if I could help out. I have seen values all over the board for these so I figured you guys (and gals- looking at you @Just Gina ) would be the best source to get an accurate estimate. Here is the big detractor for this rifle- its not a CRF model. Looking forward to what you have to say. Before it's asked, no I didn't think to take pics of this- most unfortunate.....

Also, and this may be old news for most of you, but it was the first I had personally heard of it- Browning has purchased Winchester- all new model 70's come with a winchester sticker on the barrel, but the shop tags have Browning listed as the manufacturer!

A bit more info on this- He wants $2000- I told him I felt that was a bit high for a non-CRF model and it was likely more like $1400-1600. I'm just trying to figure out who is closer to the actual value so he has a better chance of selling it. Told him to get on here with it, but he doesn't like going online- equal parts old fashioned and paranoid I think, lol.

Albert, you are 100% accurate that the rifle is priced high considering it is a pushfeed. Now thats not to say someone won't come along and give that but it should move at a much lower cost as you have suggested. Pushers don't command the same pricetag as the CRF models.

Thanks, appreciate the input!

I agree.

I would be hard pressed to pay $2000 for a push feed .458 Win. I really don't want a push feed .458 because if I am using a .458 that means I am hunting DG and if I am hunting DG I want CRF.

And brand new one with CRF would MSRP at like $1600... but you can't find any so they go for much more when you can.

I would pay $2000 for a used CRF Model 70 in Excellent/Like New shape though

But as you said...somebody might pay it. It just wouldn't be me

I cannot see over $1200 for a used BACO push feed. I prefer the crf with the older style trigger. Some prefer the push feed and the MOA trigger. Whatever one is satisfied & happy with.
So, as they say it is worth what you are willing to pay.

The last one i saw was sold for $1460 excluding shipping and tax.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
