I haven't seen the Peat Monster at a store in Australia (well, not in my neck of the woods just yet) but have heard that it is a lovely drop for the peat-heads, even though a blend and not from Islay (that I know of).

Have you had the opportunity to compare this with the other classic Islay peat "monsters" i.e. Ardbeg 10, Laphroaig 10 & CS and the Port Charlotte 10?

I love the smoky single malts and anything that plays into this spectrum is my jam; other (out of the box) suggestions are very much appreciated.
@Michael70 it is very close to Talisker 10 but more Peaty and very smooth not so smokey but having had a 16 year Glenmorangie in camp last week with another friend I defintely would take the Peat Monster anytime over the Glenmorangie for my taste buds.
I also hade a 12 year old Bowmore there and that was also better to my liking than the Glenmorangie.

The friend who brought along the Glenmorangie is sure to be shopping for Peat Monster after this weekend just saying !!!

Very close to Talisker 10 is high praise indeed.

The smoke is in the background and not smack you in the face like the Laphroaig or Ardbeg but gentle and rounded (in my opinion). Sometimes you like them feisty other times gentle, depending on the mood.

The Peat Monster is definitely on the buy list.

Looking for a good sherried, peaty, single malt. I have the PC10 and looking for a Bunnahabhain 12, which I hear fits the bill nicely.

A family friend bought me a bottle if Bunnahabhain 18 about 10 years back, and I still remember how good it was.

I am sure the 12 will be a good dram. Definitely a smoother/richer line than some of the other peat monsters, but still smokey.

Tried its cousin from the Compass Box range called Glasgow Blend, not too peaty, a little smoky but all round a great tasting whisky

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.
