I have a Remington 721 and a Remington 700 custom shop , both in 300 H & H. Still working on loads with the 700. The 721 likes 180 grain Accubonds. What powder do you like for the 200 & 220 grain bullets?

Have used RL22 on 220gr Hornady RNSN and 240gr Woodleigh PP. Worked great every time.

Thinking on taking mine to Mozambique next year, hunting Leopard and planes game with it. I’m thinking of 200gr A Frames for planes game, what would you recommend for Leopard?

I’d recommend 200 grain Nosler Partitions for both PG and Leopard. That’s what I used in April for several PG animals…Springbok to Zebra. Also, the Leopard in my avatar.

Sadly reamers are basically non existent in NZ and with the dollar the way it is and freight, their isn't enough shekels in the toy fund to import one from the states. No rentals either

Same setup as Atticus. I dropped an axis in Texas a few weeks ago at 280yds and it never moved. I have leupold vx-6 with Talley rings. I live in coastal ga and don’t typically take long shots but that rifle can clang 10in steel at 450 yds all day. The cds system is basically cheating once it’s dialed in.

If you had used the same opening paragraph to make a statement instead of ask a question, 90% of AH would have heartily agreed with you. Perfect choices, especially in combination with each other! The 300 H&H feeds as smoothly if not better than the 375 H&H, they have the same bolt throw, both proven for over 100 years. You couldn't find a better training rifle for later 375 use. The 300 is under-utilized, underloaded with the potential for even higher performance, and yes, "screams safari." If any caliber deserved to be reawakened, it is the 300 H&H, IMO.
You don't need us to convince you. You were on the right track from the first sentence.

I'm new to the site and have been looking at all the recommendations for African Rifles. I figure my first trip will be a PG safari so I been looking into a rifle to dedicate solely to hunting African PG. I have seen a lot of good recommendations but I never saw the 300 H&H mentioned. I was thinking of building a 300 H&H and have it push a good 180 gr bullet. This should take damn near anything right? I know a 30-06 will do most anything the old H&H will do, but the H&H head stamp just screams SAFARI. What do you guys think?

I have three rifles in mind for tackling Africa. A 300 H&H for PG and any antelope, 375 H&H for anything big or dangerous, and a 6x45 for the tiny ten and any varmints.

Personally I think you have the ultimate classic combination for Africa. Others with far more experience may disagree and say you need something with a 4 in it as well.
You may have a hard time finding a 300 H&H but it is a classic cartridge.

I have a pre 64 Super Grade with a 26" barrel. I've been wondering if I should cut it down to 24". It shoots 200 gr TSX's well but was looking for opinions as to barrel length and bullet weights. I do like the North Forks in general, as Uncompahugre mentioned. I shoot them in my 404 Jeff but haven't in other calibers.

Leave it at 26" that's the ideal length to get the most out of it

Surely you could find a gunsmith in Australia you could rent one off. Try TSE /MAB barrels in Brisbane Qld.

I wish Winchester would take a move from rugers playbook and do at least limited runs of model 70 rifles in classic calibers like the Super 30. You can’t convince me they sell more 325 WSM rifles than they would 300 H&H, 7x57, or 35 Whelen.
