We need more honey badger content...

My first safari in RSA years ago we rolled up on a HB at a water hole. He charged the truck and chased us, biting at the tires. There was something not quite right about it all, though. He kept returning to the water…

They found it dead the next day and sent it to the local vet… it was rabid. The day before, one of the apprentice PHs was on the ground messing with it. Good thing he wasn’t bitten.

They are badass little hellions. Honey Badger definitely don’t care.

I wish I had mine mounted. I shot it from a blind on an Impala bait with my wife’s crossbow. It got into a hole. Thank goodness a Jack Russel is willing to go in a hole with a HB and drag him out.

LSU needed the Honey Badger this past Saturday at Ole Miss

Fox Lodge in Tanzania had a honey badger “pet” as well as a giant bush baby (greater galogo) “pet” when my wife and I stayed there in 2009… they were “wild”, but the lodge had trained them both to come visit every dinner meal by putting their favorite foods out for them right next to the wooden deck where guests would eat…

It was pretty cool getting literally just 3-4 feet from the honey badger… he had zero fear of humans.. and I was equally surprised that he didn’t care at all about sharing his lunch with a 5 lb bush baby… they’d sit there, just maybe a foot apart every meal enjoying themselves.. and then casually wander off when they were done..

I’ll have to go dig through old photos and see if I can find some from that trip… we got a few good ones of the honey badger, and got some great close ups of the bush baby..
There was one that used to raid the camp fires in Halali camp in Etosha had him/her steal the toast off the grill. First time I saw him scare the crap out of me but was really neat to see. Think the staff took him away in the end as he/she really got into people’s stuff love to see your pics! I’ll see if I can dig mine out.

There were warning signs in a couple of camps in Kruger warning of honey badgers, baboons and monkeys getting in, they said to lock your doors and widows.
After watching Stoffel not sure I want to hunt something smarter than I am!

Don’t mean to step on the HB parade & I love them, but thought members might not even know about the Yellow Throated, not in Wolverine or Badgers league but still awesome !

There is video of hunting Monkeys & even small jungle cats !

For those who are considering taking a HB, I hope you will try for one. They really are special and they would be one of the highlights of your African trophies. Ask your PH (in advance) about taking one. They have to get a special permit for them.
