Anyone out there have any of these? My 7 mag shoots em best and would prefer to take on upcoming Africa hunt but may have to go with backup Hornady CX 150 gr. which it also shoots well.

I talked with Swift guys at DSC and they said possibly in the fall which won’t do for May hunt.

By chance have you tried the 170 grain Oryx? My two 7x57s shoot them better than the 160 grain A Frame. This year the 170 grain Oryx have taken 2x Wildebeest, 2x Impala, Blesbok, Lechwe, Puku, Warthog, 2 x Bushbuck, Sable, Waterbuck, and some whitetail without failure. Might be an option.

I have not, thanks for the info!

Just order some NorthForks from reloading international, it’s likely they will shoot better than the swifts, no guarantees but I bet you won’t be disappointed

the 160 gr Nosler partition might be a bullet to consider, it is also a flat base bullet like the swift a frame that shoots well in your rifle

I didn’t see any NorthForks in 7mm on their site, so it appears like Swift there are none to be had. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

gotta hold your mouth just right on the search. they have 22 boxes of the 160 gr in stock

Big fan of Oryx, but the BCs on them are quite low, nowhere near even a 160 gr A Frame.

At 2900 fps, those 170 gr Oryx will fall to 2k fps at around 300 - 325 yards. Not the end of the world, of course, shooters just need to be aware of the limitations of an otherwise great bullet.

I guess so! This interwebs thing is hard. :)

It says ‘defective’, not sure I want to put my first African Safari animals in the hands of defective bullets…maybe the 175’s would work.

I'd call them. They're probably just blemished or something.

In my first trip to Africa for plains game I took my 7mm RUM and I handloaded Barnes 160 gr TSX. They performed as I expected, flawlessly.
If you have not considered that bullet, take a look at it. You would not be disappointed at their performance if they shoot well in your rifle.

Thanks, I had a lineup of TTX, Hornady CX, and the Swift A frames to test. As mentioned a certain load of the Swift A’s was best, followed closely by a Hornady CX. All were 1” MOA plus minus so all would probably by ok. The Swift and CX of choice were each in the 0.4” range so stood out.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?
