As the title states, looking for new .416 350 or lower soft point bullets for an upcoming hunt in May. I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t find anything in stock. I have Barnes TSX for trade if somebody is interested or happy to pay cash.

I think I know what these are for! Good luck

Haha you sure do! My TSX are loaded up but my PH is requesting soft points for the lion hunt.
I can make due, but I’d prefer to shoot what he request.

I’ve never used A-Frames in .416 caliber before, so I don’t know how they are made as far as the gilding metal is concerned. I would consult someone that has hunted lion before to see if an A-Frame is a good choice. (It’s a wonderful Buffalo bullet) I would be concerned they may not open sufficiently on a 600lb lion.

A Woodleigh soft would be a weaker (better?) bullet potentially. Maybe @Philip Glass would know?

The 340gr woodleighs would be pure murder on cats. I shot a gemsbok with them last summer. They shed about half their weight and opened huge but I did hit a lot of bone. There is a listing for 100 in the classifieds.

They are sold

There are some bullets on GB that would be perfect for the task at hand. I’ll PM you details.

400gr Swift A frames in 416 will perform great on lion....no need for the light weight bullet....
600lb wild lions do not exist....400lb is more realistic......

400 gr Nosler Partitions work great too. Optics Planet has them in stock.

I have an unopened box of Nosler 400 gr Partitions available if interested.

Glad you dropped in to render an opinion. I didn’t know if they would open enough, fast enough on a cat.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
