I hunted Namibia in October and decided to have euro mounts and hides tanned over there. A little over 5 weeks ago I was notified that my trophies were ready for shipment and wired the money to the taxidermist for the freight cost. At this point my trophies have not shipped and I am being told there is currently a backlog in cargo shipments. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this or if I am getting the run-around. I would appreciate anyone's comments concerning this.

Hi @Bwana Bob , I don’t think you are getting the run around. Cargo shipments have been pretty back logged since at least September of last year. Additionally, Nature Conservation has also been back logged. This is translating into some extended waits for trophy shipments coming out of SA. You are in the same boat with a lot of other folks.

Not familiar with shipping from Namibia bu had the same deal in Joburg. IIRC, it was over a week delay.

My suspicion is that "Consolidation" is a major issue.
The folks that purchase/book the space on the planes make money through consolidating shipments.
So, they wait until it is full before sending the shipments. Which means, hunters get to wait.

Exactly! My most recent shipment tracking number indicated five crates delivered to the airline. Mine was just one of them.

My last shipment was at the airport and sat there for a week and a half. I contacted the airline about it and they were real nice. They told me it would go out the next day and the company that did the paperwork said it was at the airport for two days after it was in custom in the states. Might not be a bad idea to call the airline on this end once you find out what one they are using.

Same experience with my 2016 hunt trophies. After finally arriving in Houston they remained at the airport another week waiting on US inspection. The houston airport also charged a daily storage fee while waiting on our government to show up to do the inspection . Coppersmith added that charge on to there fee. I hadn’t planned on that additional charge!

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's input.
