Things you survived, but probably shouldn't have

The last one a uti
I had no symptoms at all. ( for a uti)
I had been spraying and got some chemicals on me. Being stupid I got through and then went an cleand off.
So when symptoms of a infection showed up.
Chills , shaking and sweats I did not pay it attention.
It went septic and a long stay in icu getting all kinds of antibiotics. Had a nurse tell me if I would have waited one more day I probably would not have went back home.
That day a buddy checked in on me called my wife and told her I needed to go to the hospital no matter what I said.
He was right I was not capible of makeing good dessisions at the time.
Him just comeing by and having her take me in saved my life.

That one scared me it snuck up and got me out of the blue

When I was a kid working at a horse farm I turned loose a mare not realizing the dominant mare was coming up behind me to harass her. The one I turned loose immediately spun around and donkey kicked both hind legs, full extension, at the approaching mare with me in between. Her hooves went on either side of my head, each brushing my ears, both directions. By the grace of God I was not decapitated.

This past July, I was doing my usually uneventful morning drive to work. The highway that I was on has a 65mph speed limit and is three lanes wide on each side with a cable divider in the grass median.

I had several vehicles around me and was leading the pack. All of a sudden a freak rainstorm hits, the bottom falls out. I feel the back of my truck starting to feel loose, then start spinning. I start to get some control and point the truck towards the median to separate myself from surrounding traffic. It got a little blurry after that, it felt like I had gone upside down, flipped, rolled, whatever. I remember landing hard and heading towards the cables, truck stopped about three inches short of the cables.

All four curtain airbags had blown and I had blood all over my shirt. I get my witts about me and get out, no body damage.

The blood was from the damned curtain airbag....

Turns out when the shop reset the computer after the airbags were replaced I had gone upside down, landed perfectly on four wheels. I told the people at the shop that there's a word for that... SKILLS!
They had a good laugh but truth be told the first thing I put my hand on when the incident had ended was this...

A little Jesus figure that my deer processor gave me last season, I kept it in my center console up until the accident. It goes with me in my pocket every day since!!!

I must say, this is the most enthralling thread I’ve ever read on any forum

I encourage all of you to sit down and put pen to paper (or keyboard) and really do your best to describe exactly what your experiences were like.
Some experiences are more difficult to explain verbally than they are in writing so keep at it.
It’s a good mental exercise to transfer thought into descriptive writing.
Extremely therapeutic I’d say..
I have a couple but need to think them through to adequately convey them to a casual reader.
Carry on. I love this stuff!

I had a cyclic jam in roll, during a turn.

If you know what that means, you’ll know what two folks I know and respect greatly mean when they said;

1: You’re a dead man walking
2: You had no right to survive that event.

An engine failure was child’s play by comparison.

Well I had a few experiences in my 17 years.
1. I was 10 years old , I was riding my bi-cycle , lost balance on a patch of loose sand and hit my head on a brick.
2. Our boy scout troupe was bluff charged by a large bull elephant.
3. I was travelling with my parents when our car crashed into a truck taking a u turn the hired driver died while the co-passenger was injured , I had a broken nose from that incident.

My first marriage, no joke.
Totally understand that after my wife of 30 years walked away, moved to Turkey and married a Turk in less than a year.
Before she left, she tried to get me to go to Turkey on vacation. I wonder why???? She made three trips there, “just for her” after she left.
We had my first hunt in Africa we booked and that took priority for me. I ended up not going to Africa trying to save my marriage. I will still go at some point.

I spent 30 days in a burn unit after an arc flash incident working on medium voltage switchgear.
A little complicated and technical to go into details here. Ended up with skin grafts over 18% of my body, burns over about 30%.
By divine providence, I made a decision on what I wanted to do first on that gear. I didn’t make contact and that is why I am still alive. It is no minor miracle that someone didn’t die that day.
I went through a year of physical therapy after my burn injury and was the toughest experience I ever went through until my divorce.

By far the most dangerous entity I’ve ever encountered are my own shortcomings

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
