The Most Important Things To Know Before Traveling To Italy

Italy is my favorite country in all of Europe. A firearms aficionado must visit the Beretta factory and also the Armeria Concari factory.

Their food is absolutely divine. The sandwiches at Al Antico Vinaio. The Bistecca Ala Fiorentina at Trattoria D’Alloste.

Italians make the best veal dishes in the entire world.

If you enjoy fine firearms & good food (like I do), then Italy is the country for you !

Unfortunately even tho we will only be an hour and a half from the Beretta factory we have limited time and unfortunately won't get to visit it.
I will be leaving my credit cards at the hotel when I take my wife into Milano tho.

That's why my wife and I like to avoid a lot of traditional tourist areas. We prefer to get outside the major population centres and meet the REAL people . We still do some of the tourist stuff but get more hospitality and knowledge from the locals in smaller areas. Plus to us country folk like ourselves seem to be a lot friendlier than city folk.

Absolutely so.
Our countryside is still warm, frendly and certainly more authentic.
Everything is more personal and private.
That's why I will retire in few years to my countryhouse.

Bob, if you can… do consider paying a visit to Armeria Concari. Last time I was there in 2022, they had a magnificent .35 Whelen for sale there. Built on a standard length Concari Steinbock action with a removable magazine.

We are staying in a little bed and breakfast in Sostogna and venturing out from there. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it it will be early December.

Thank you for the great information. My wife and I are travelling to Italy later this year. We are going to the Milan and lakes area of northern Italy and possibly just entering Switzerland to do the drive around lake Como.
Do Australians need a visa to travel to Italy if travelling thru Ireland, Scotland and England first. What are the rules travelling with schedule 8 ( restricted ) medication.
Thank you
Bob

As an Italian, I say that is an onest and accurate description
I just didn't know about this TBE, but better safe than sorry I guess...
One very personal consideration, as a shop owner : we totally understand that english is a pass par tout and are happy to help, speaking in your native language. Just try to learn 3 or 4 starting words like "buongiorno, possiamo parlare in Inglese?" - that is far better than do it for granted.
Enjoy our Country, as we love to have visitors - and many of them become good friends!
Hi Phil, I'll be visiting Rome with my wife this week. Could you pm me your store address again, I'd love to have the occasion to say hi!

Lucky enough to visit during the Olympics? That would be fantastic. If I was that far north, I would definitely consider crossing over into Austria and visiting Ferlach and all their gunmakers!

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
