I love to hunt... I love to fish... why not combine the two, there are very limited species which can be spearfished in Texas fresh waters and many of them due to water clarity are not conducive to it. This past summer a friend and my self discovered a gin clear stretch of river that hosts a healthy population of tilapia. Not only legal to spearfish but fine tablefare as well. It will be time to hit the river again in a month or two once the water temps get a little warmer.

That is great fun! Do you snorkel or scuba?

I am right there with you sir. Though I prefer my spear fishing adventures to be salty in nature the idea is the same.

I might know an interesting place to spear for Tilapia, Nile Perch and Nkupi, you might as well make a little extra time for a hunt just round the corner too.. :A Stirring::D:whistle:

Man I love spearfishing. When I was at uni and on a rather tight budget I still dined like a king, especially in winter when lobsters were out . A fishing licence allowed one to get two lobbies a day so I ate a lot of lobster. I lived near the coast in Sydney then and it was just a few minute walk down to the ocean and you could find crayfish in few meters of water. Travelling up and down the coast we used to get abalone as well. Fish you had to work a bit harder for as with the exception of Western Australia you have to spearfish on a breathold in Oz. I must say that steady diet of seafood that I had to catch myself kept me fit and healthy! I miss travelling up and down the coast with the boys diving during the day and relaxing around campfire at night. :A Camping:

Spearing was my introduction to hunting.

We all need additional hobbies...lol

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Nice Cobias, and I think you have a Wahoo in there as well. Great hunting!

Yeah Cobia, Yellowtail Kingfish and Wahoo. The one in the second last picture turned on me after I shot it and headbutted me in the chest pretty hard, it was surprisingly painful and most unpleasant.

great mixed bag from the salt one of these days I'll venture out

Nothing big enough to worry about at our place...

Sometimes I can be very obtuse. I just got what you were saying.(y) Would love to swing by some day.

At first I was thinking along the lines of Bangwelu, Tanganyika, etc.

Swing by any time... suns out, waters warm, fish are swimming, ducks are flying...

Just stepped out the door to take that pic, we swim here, no problem. I wouldn’t swim 10km down the shore line though...

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
