SOUTH AFRICA: Surviving A Lion Charge Lion In The Kalahari!!!

Shortly I will share the painting of my lion. I will be making a rug from my Gemsbok and two lights from its horns
Nice with a painting. Great idea. May I ask pls where and how you will get it done? Thanks

Wow - Awesome - Congrats. Very Interesting. Just read entire thread and watched video. Appreciate this site and all who contribute their knowledge and experiences. Helps pass the snowy Wisconsin weather days!

I can only imagine .... very nice gemsbok what are you plans for that trophy? I personally like the european mount for the female. The long thin horn, with bleached skull on a dark wooden shield can be quite striking . I am curious if it was a one shot kill. I hunted them several times in Namibia and more than once, a well shot animal would take cover under a bush or tree than make a stand when we approached for the kill shot. Definitely not a charge , but several stood back up and slashed aggressively with horn and refused to back down. For what its worth I think they make the best biltong. cheers

Unfortunately, no... however, I did take a great picture that I then had an African artist hand paint with oil on canvass that covers an entire wall in my trophy room.
Here you go

Of course. Please let me know if you would like me to pm you with the artist contact information. I will tell you while you can get a photo on canvass just me only I do not like them nearly as much as paint on canvass. Given the high value of the dollar versus Rand it cost me on an almost wall size painting only $425 delivered. Now I spent about $2,000 once I selected the Olive wood frame with all the matting but for about $2500 I have a memory of a lifetime I love seeing every day and quite the conversation piece when people visit!

One heads up on my lights, while I love them, I did not tell the taxi to install US electric sockets so I had to have my handyman rewire and change out the sockets

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
