We received an email from Delta to fill out a South African travel declaration, in 5 trips never had to declare anything.
My wife being the conciseness type dutifully filled it out and declared the cash we are taking. Has anyone been through this and how painful was it. Seems like you have to declare anything over 25,000 Rand which is less than $1,500.
We received an email stating we have to go through the Red Line at customs.
Any experiences is welcome!

No issues for me when I was there. But I did read on here about the form.

I wouldn’t worry about it…I’ve never had any kind of issue and I’m pretty sure I’ve declared cash etc (tip money etc I carry)
There’s nothing wrong with having say $3,000 cash or whatever

I came into Johannesburg last week and never filled it out. Maybe i did something wrong... but was never asked.

The following below is from the SARS website - still voluntary - it has been in this status since roll out in 2022 - things move slowly in Africa......

While the use of the South African Customs online declaration system is currently optional, it will soon become mandatory. Travellers are encouraged to begin using the system now to pre-declare goods, currency, and other items before entering or leaving the country.

I didn't even know about this and I was there about 6 weeks ago.

Like @Hunt anything said, if you have tickets on Delta it kind of drives you crazy reminding you -

"Needs Attention - You’re almost Fly Ready. Upload and verify your required travel documents before your trip".

When in fact this is still voluntary to use.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
