So dumb question about a pelican

Stencil art. Hmmm. Good idea. I think these will ensure fewer prying eyes from security and more careful handling by baggage apes.

Ah hah! So it will look like a steamer trunk from the 1800s that’s been around the world three times. Or as often seen in lift lines at big ski areas… jackets with 27 old lift tickets dangling :):) Got it..

Not much sticks to that type polymer, so old looking travel stickers won’t stay on. What a thing to worry about. Plus I wouldn’t get too carried away no matter the motive— enough luggage gets lost as is. No need to confuse the baggage handlers/scanners any more than necessary. Years ago I chose the tan colored Pelican for a reason. To personalize and to ID at a distance, I just spray painted a red ring around its middle.

Then cut off the factory holes or plug them with automotive trim plugs. Rules state every lock hole needs a lock. So plug or remove the holes.

Stickers only draw unwanted attention. Baggage handlers may take it as a personal challenge to see how indestructible your case and contents are. Not to mention having a nuclear symbol that you will have to explain to TSA or other foreign agencies. Hard pass.

Keep it simple like @fourfive8 did and put an identifiable mark on it to see it at a distance. Put a lock in every hole or cut them off.

Sorry, seems my attempt at humor went over your head. :D Strategic use of emoji needed.

I agree about unwanted attention. When traveling I avoid looking like a hunter. Try to blend in. I may wear my outfitter's ball cap but the logo is unobtrusive. Anyway, who bothers to look at ball cap logos? I don't really care to be staring at a stranger's face. A few who are gun savy may know what a Pelican gun case is. For most travelers it's just an odd shaped piece of luggage. Many people are nervous about guns and, I suppose, not without good reason. I don't see any reason to stress them out plastering a bunch of guns & ammo stickers on my luggage. Traveling is stressful enough.

Re cutting off lock holes in gun cases, I really don't think that's advisable. Pelican puts four lock ports on their cases for a reason. With just one lock it would be easy enough for someone to release the latches and pry open one end of the case, possibly enough to pull a gun out. And if the rifle bolt has been removed from the gun, it would be vulnerable to falling out. I have four same-key padlocks with long hasps and I need to replace them with some that lock tighter for that reason. As insurance I wrap duct tape around the case and over the locks and latches. It keeps the latches secure and locks from flopping around and tearing up other luggage or damaging the case. Colored duct tape makes it easy to identify the case from a distance. Duct tape goo is easily removed with paper towels and WD-40.

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
