Sabatti Rover quality?

I tried sabatti rover tactical, and sabatti TLD Red, on my club range.
No objections. Great rifles, for target shooting, with high quality hammer forged barrels, with multi radial rifling. Very good, trigger light, fit and finish, good.
All in all, those two are under my personal consideration for eventual purchase for target shooting (actuallly, those two are first on my list of options)

For Sabatti rover, hunting version, I have not tried, to give opinion.

There is one story.
A guy I know bought rover tactical in LGS. What was not known to him at that time, that particular rifle was earlier some gun show exhibit, and as it turned out on that gun show, the firearms must be disabled, and not able to shoot.

So, for this reason, firing pin was cut in half. The gun shop owner did not know taht as well.

After purchase, he could not fire or zero the brand new gun. Fail to fire, every time!
First he checked with gunsmith, no success, but they found cut in half, firing pin, then off he went to LGS to file complain on warranty.

So, in order to assist (on urgent basis) to make a new gun shoot, LGS owner, having no other same model of rifle to change it, went to take firing pin from hunting version sabatti rover. (bolts look the same or identical size on two rifles)
Then, firing pin from hunting rover, was not fitting the bolt of tactical version. (hunting rifle firing pin was probably heavier, or a bit wider on hunting model, my guess, as match rifle will usually have light firing pin, for faster strike)

Then, in second attempt, they tried to replace the bolt, from hunting to tac, gun.
No.
Too hard to lock. There are very fine and tight tolerances for tactical rifle, and hunting rifle having a bit rough bolt.

On the end, it was settled within days by ordering and installing new firing pin from factory, under warranty.
I tried that rifle from friend later after fixing, and it worked perfectly. With hunting ammo, half moa accuracy. fantastic!

Bottom line: the fit and finish, of match rifle and tactical will be very fine, when compared to hunting rifle model.
Well, maybe. I did not actually tried hunting rifle, but obviously the tolerances are finely tuned on match versions and parts are not interchangable

In match versions, sabatti is on top of my list for eventual next purchase. (especially after testing one more tactical model, and one TLD).

For hunting model, I cannot say. never tried.

Phillip I was reviewing some of the auctions online and saw your Nubian Ibex hunt coming up this weekend. It also showed you have Addax and Axis deer. Is there a website I can go to and see the lodge, cost of animals and what is available? Thanks Mark

I really like that knife you're selling. It looks so similar to my original 1306 that has been around a long time. I can't spend that much but if you get to a point where you'd entertain offers let me know. Thx, James
