Ruger safari magnum. Good, Bad and Ugly?

I've had a couple RSMs and they are OK. Well, I guess for the money they are pretty good but Rugers have always been blocky, heavy and ugly IMO.
Next to a magnum Mauser there is no comparison. Big difference in price of course but with RSM prices going up (although you do see them at auctions for much less than retailers) the gap is getting less and I just don't see the value any more.
Also, It made sense for Ruger to make a magnum for the 416 but not the 375. The Whitworth 375 at half the money is a better choice to me.

The RSMs are nice, especially the long quarter rib and, typically, a good-looking piece of walnut for the stock. I’ve have the non-magnum variant, the M77 Express Rifle, in .30-06. They also made runs of these RERs in .270 and, IIRC, 7mm Mag.

Still, for a DGR I’d take a customized BRNO, CZ, or Whitworth over an RSM.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
