I'm currently looking at buying a Remington 700 XCR II in 375 H&H. I have read some reviews.

Just wondering if anyone has one out there and what do they think of it.

We have one. I like it a lot. It's very light (6 3/4 lbs without anything) but the stock soaks up recoil. It's very accurate and corrosion resistant. Unlike the older model 700s, the XCR II does not lock the bolt on safe (which I don't like), and I replaced the rear sight which was junk with an NECG rear sight. Ours has two bears to it's credit (my brown bear and my son's black bear).

Oh, by the way, the bolt opened twice while it was on safe while my son was hunting in thick brush in New Mexico on our black bear hunt. I really liked the old Rem 700 two position safety which locked the bolt on safe, can't find a way to make that work with the current safety so I'm having Ed LaPour install a 3 Pos M70 type safety on the rifle. I'm going to send it out this week. When I get it back I'll post some pictures and tell you guys what I think. All in all the XCR is a pretty good bargain in a 375 H&H. I'm not a Ruger fan but if you like them and like the 375 Ruger cartridge they're a great bargain also.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
