Hi there, I have a Remington Model 700 ADL which is chambered in 7 Rem Mag. I would like to re-barrel this rifle to another chambering as I already have 2 other 7 Rem Mag rifles. I own rifles chambered in .223 Remington, .22/250 Ackley Improved, .25/06 Remington, .260 Remington, 6.5 x 55 Swedish, .300 Winchester Magnum, 8 x 57 Mauser, 9.3 x 62 Mauser and .45/70 Government. What am I missing?
.338 Winchester Magnum perhaps.

338 Win Mag would be good, but what about 358 Norma Mag?

The 7mm mag and 338 WM use the same case, so this would be an easy conversion(I think)........simply changing out the barrel. If you are forgoing iron sights, then really easy.

I already have a 338win mag and 300win mag so when I was bored with my 7mag I rebarreled it to 264win mag. I wish I had done so years before. I really like the 264win mag and it does everything the 7mag did but easier to shoot.

Well you certainly have the 30 caliber and under covered so 338 Win Mag or larger makes sense. Or go all the way to a 375 or 416;)

A 264 with a 26" barrel or a 458 with a 21" that you specifically use for 350 gr bullets. Two cheap and easy swaps that everyone loves when they have one.

I know it's an older post but 358 Norma mag sounds good to me or 416 Taylor

I have a Ruger 77 II which started out as a 7mm Remington Magnum. I had it rebored and rechambered to .35 Norma Magnum and took a couple of white tails with it this last season, using cast bullets and reduced loads. One of the nice things about the .35 Norma Magnum is that cases can be formed from 7mm Remington brass with a single pass through a resizing die and a slight trim for length. Once fired 7mm Remington Magnum brass is one of the more common calibers on the once fired cartridge case market, and the brass is very uniform as a rule.

Do you have an application, you have no rifle for,.... or do you just collecting different calibers?

A 264 Win Mag or a 257 Wea Mag would be a great mountain gun.

The 700 Rem is not a rifle for Africa.... so no big bores.

I decided to build a .338 RUM. I used a 28" MTU contour Krieger barrel and had my gunsmith throat it for the 250 grain Berger hybrid. He also tried and trued the action and glass bedded it into the B & C M40 stock. I mounted a Nikon Black FX-1000 6-24x illuminated scope in Warne Maxima rings. I can now shoot bugholes out to ridiculous range.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
