Who are yall hunting with in EC? Don’t pass on a nice EC bushbuck

Ballantyne Safaris, we have 7 animals on our package apiece. I wouldn't mind picking up a couple more if the opportunity presents itself. This is probably a once in a lifetime trip for me. I have increased my shooting practice trifold. Walking a mile before work every morning and on one of my off days taking the dogs with about 20lbs in my backpack and rifle walking right at 4 miles. I admit that is rough in the 95 degrees heat here.

We had one rifle fail on our last trip and a second that was on the verge of being unfit to hunt and has since been mended. Both were due to problems with the mounting systems that failed under recoil. The last two animals were taken with a very nice Sako 30-06 that was borrowed from the PH.

I had my 7mm Wby, Dad had his 300 Wby.
3 oryx, 2 kudu, 2 impala, 3 springbok, 1 blue wildebeest, 1 Burchell's zebra in total.

All Barnes TTSX, no tracking needed. The PHs were thrilled.

You sound well sorted, take one rifle each and have fun !
E-Cape has longer shots than the bushveld, but those can take anything under 300m , even the Grand Slam will work if you place it right.
Bullets slow down and you are not worried about meat damage, so softer bullets should not be an issue to anchor trophys.
If you take the 7mm-08 I would shoot lighter bullets like 140gr premiums to make range estimation easier.
But that is absolute nit-picking, all 4 setups will work.

My daughter used a 7-08 for up to zebra last summer. Barnes 140 grain TSX. It was excellent for everything.

I often just used it over my Mauser since the 7-08 was always at hand.

The zebra stallion was taken at a it 125 yards. Quartering front shoulder shot. No game went more than 10 yards with that bullet
