Gentlemen,

I figured I’d ask the question here before I send a message to my gunsmith.

While taking out my 8x68s to finally sight it on with Norma PH ammo, I unfortunately discovered that the mag box is too short even though the ammo is below listed COAL for the cartridge. I haven’t taken it apart to get a true measurement, but it looks like there would still be some metal at the front once enough material was removed to accommodate the cartridge.

Am I crazy to think about attacking it with a dremel and a file?

Hello Aaron,

What rifle is the one do you have?
It’s allegedly a Frankonia Mauser. Built on a barrelled Voere (possibly) 98 military action. Later today I’ll get some pictures and measurements of the mag box.

Is it the magazine box or the opening in the action? I think it would be best to make a new magazine box.
The action is fine for length. It doesn’t look like a re-barrel job, action and barrel numbers match. I’m thinking someone changed the bottom metal?

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
