I noticed they loaded a 170gr for several other 7mm cartridges and figured maybe a handload or a custom loading from either of those 2 sources
I have had Hendershots load the 170 grain Oryx. With the Oryx I have taken Sable, Waterbuck, Puku, Lechwe, Warthog, Impala, Blesbok, Wildebeest, whitetail, and hogs with zero failures. With the 7x57 I have tried Accubond, Swift Aframes, Northforks and the Oryx I feel performed the best at all ranges. I attribute that to the moderate velocity of the 7x57 coupled with a bullet that is tough but will open at lower velocities. I have 170s loaded around 2500fps.

I don’t think they make a 170gr 7x57/275 load anymore. On their website they only offer the 156gr 7x57 Oryx load.
I reload the 170’s. I don’t think I have ever seen 275/7x57 factory 170 loads either. I have some 160 TipStrike and 170 Vulkan loaded to try as well.

Safe hunting

Hendershots loaded my 170's (Norma Oryx). I have used them with Mike @spike.t and here for whitetail. They shoot a ragged hole from the bench.

here's a 275 HV. rigby built in 1904 as the ledger states , but notice it was built as a 7mm 175grain typical rigby/mauser the ledger has it with 1 standing and 2 leaves to 300yds and a bolt peep fitted thats how it was originally built , it now has a barrel with the high velocity info engraving and does not have original mauser serial numbers on the barrel as well as the action in fact the barrel has a sackville st address which should be after 1908 these few anomolies woul…

Hi pjaln,

Nice Rigbys!! I would like to know if you have measured the chamber throath lenght in the HV one that have a barrel not original, or if you have tried to chamber a cartridge with heavy round nose 170 plus grs.
Thank you!!

Quite a interesting person Faussett was also , very fine Rigbys .

no I haven't tried to chamber a 175grain 7mm in the high velocity 275 rigby ,, nor have I measured it . the older 7mm were a more rounded bullet compared to the 140 HV so they may have been a bit tight

I like the Barnes 140 TSX in the 7. My experience, and many others observations, it will out penetrate any bonded bullet. But, every bullet is a compromise, for it doesn't expand like a bonded (I prefer the Oryx in the bonded ranks).

It's too bad that we don't have the ability to get a 7mm Terminal Accent bullet to load. That would be an excellent option.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
