As a local I know and hunt most of the RSA areas, and have hunted Zim/ Zambia/ Tanzania extensively.. Botswana on occasion.
May is start of winter but MILD compared to your winters.. as previous replies have said, early morning is cold.. so a light jacket required. Normally, this can be left on the truck once you de- bus and start walking.. it warms up quickly, particularly when you walking and the adrenaline starts pumping on siting game etc.
