I was mad about the price of ammo....Until I tooled up to reload a new caliber! # .338 Win Mag

I may be able to help you with the brass. How many do you you need. I may have one can of 19 but due to hazmat regulations cant ship that.
PM me if you need any more information. Your 338 I think is thumb safety. They are nice rifles.

Thankyou! Some one else already hooked me up with brass. Yep my Ruger .338WM is the original M77 with the tang safety. The wood and bluing are beautiful. I dropped it off today to get the barrel threaded, already submitted the E-File for a .338 can.

I hope you get yours sooner than I am getting mine. I'm at 252 days and counting. It's sad when you spend that kind of money for a can, then another 200 for a stamp. You can have the gun the same day, that muffler....you are going to have to wait a year before we allow you to take possession of it...

Yes yes I'm upset, waiting on 7 cans right now. Going to order a few more in the next month or two. Waiting for my Dominus (283 day) to shoot it to know what else I want to order.

I sell Silencers...and guns and other cool stuff. The approvals we are getting back right now on the E-Files were out for about 6 1/2 months. We still have a few paper submissions out that are 18 months old. When the E-file first started we were getting approvals in 60-70 days.....not anymore!

Last year I did 2 SBRs had 1 back in 13 days the other 23 (going off memory). Had 4 suppressors average between the 4 was 74 days. Felt bad for one of my buddies he did paper it was over 400 days and I had all my cans before he had his first.

What can are you going to run?

What can are you going to run?

B&T MonoBlock .338 Lap

This....I ordered it never seen one before I got this one. Specs are really good, they are actually made in Switzerland. Everything else I have is either SilencerCo or Griffin.

Interesting, being you are the ability. Let me know what you think of it when you shoot it. Always have a few people looking for 338 cans.

I order a Gen II 338 Ultra from TBAC.

I'll do that. I'll shoot it at the shop as soon as I get my rifle back, should be next week. Just won't be able to take it home for 6-7 months.

I decided I wanted a new rifle for my next plains game hunt in August so I headed to a gun show to see what jumped out at me. I ended up with a beautiful Ruger M77 in .338 Win Mag. It was made in 1979 and was new in the box! I have to admit I am totally infatuated with this Rifle.

So its time to gather components to load a new cartridge. Dies and other tools I needed were easy. But brass, powder and Large rifle magnum primers seem to be unobtainium! Bullets are just a little easier.

So....After spending enough to buy a plane ticket from Oklahoma to South Africa I have gathered up - H4831SC and H4350 Powder (If anyone has a extra can of Alliant Reloder 19 sitting around I would be more than happy to pay way to much for it). 300 Remington Large Rifle Magnum primers. Bullets so far 180gr Nosler Accubonds, 250gr Speer Grand Slams and 225 grain Hornady CX. Have not found any brass but I did buy five boxes of factory ammo, Winchester Expedition 225gr AccubondCT. So I'll just burn through that and I'll have 100 once fired brass cases that cost me almost $5.00 each!

I'd love to hear about any favorite loads in .338 Win Mag any of you have, hopefully with what I have on hand. Include Reloader 19 ... I WILL have it in my inventory! :p
@Deepfork
Now if you bought a 35 Whelen you would still have the same power as the 338WM and have more choices of powder and not need magnum primers. If you can't get cases you just neck up cheap ad chip 30-06 brass and your fine.
@CoElkHunter is having the same issues with his 338WM as you. I'm still trying to talk him into getting rid of his litte 338WM and getting a Whelen but he won't be swayed. Some people is just plain ornery and can't see reason. I suppose it comes from living in the high Rockies. The thin air affects brain functioning.

225 gr Swift A Frame over 67.5 gr of H4350 gave excellent results in my Ruger. I used this rifle and load on an Alaskan moose last September.

@375 Ruger Fan
Wow even with 67.8gns of power and a 225gn projectile the mighty 338WM at almost 2,700fps is around 200fps SLOWER than the Whelens 2,900fps with the same weight projectile.

Okay....you made me look!;) What is the recipe for this 225gr, 2900fps 35 Whelen load? After a pretty extensive search of the published data the fastest 225gr 35 Whelen load I could find is 2618fps. Fastest .338 Win Mag .225gr load I could find 2944fps. I not selling the .338WM yet!!!:p

Nosler lists the 225gn accubond at over 2,800fps with varget. Sierra list the 225gn game king at 2,900fps with CFE223. I'm loading the 225gn Woodleigh round nose at 2,880fps and the 225gn Woodleigh PPSP at 2,950 ps with CFE223.
I also load the 310gn Woodleigh RNSP to 2,400 plus fps with H4350.
Loaded PROPERLY AND SAFELY the Whelen is an awesome round.

Very interesting! I don't know how you can get enough powder in that relatively small case to drive 225 grains at 2900 fps.

CFE223 is a ball powder. Using the Sierra load data I was able to work up to their max of 70 grains and still have the room to seat the Sierra 225gn game king and got a velocity of 2,900 average for 5 shots out if my 25 inch barrel.

Looking for shipping advice. I will be hunting in Limpopo in March, and was wanting to know a general idea of shipping costs to return my mounts to the US when completed. Air or sea? Only plains game hunting.

Good morning 7MAG. I have a NEW, never mounted, Leupold M8-4X Extended Eye Relief scope that I will sell you for $325 shipped to you. I was a Leupold rep for 12 years and this was always our preferred mounting for a lever gun, scout rifle style.
