I need some of your wisdom on a 6.5 Swede sporter!

I had a local, well-trained gunsmith use a 6.5x55 match reamer from JGS on a 30" Krieger medium Palma blank for my Nesika K prone rifle back in 2002. That rifle shot really well in the 'any rifle' Palma-format matches I used it in, usually shooting Sierra 142MKs at 2900fps with N165 in Lapua brass. Years later, after I'd started doing my own barrel work, I was looking at the Ackley Improved version of the Swede, and wound up buying a AI reamer for use on a switch bbl BAT 3LL action prone rifle build, doing 30" hvy Palma barrels in both 6.5x55AI & straight 284 Win. I never did shoot the 6.5x55AI bbl in any of the 1000yd prone any/any matches I shot out at CRC near Byers, Co, instead preferring to go with 180VLDs out of the 284 bbl. But in both that rifle and another switch-bbl Bighorn tactical rifle, the 6.5x55AI bbls have shot quite accurately with loads that run not that much faster than the original Swede - and I don't have to trim brass after every firing like was necessary with the original Swede with all its case taper.

Schultz & Larsen - Victory, most presise rifle of all and also best trigger.

Here is the pair of Husqvarna 1640's I purchased from Simpsons Limited. Top is a 6.5x55 and bottom is a 9.3x62. Super happy with the rifles and Simpsons!

I have several 6.5x55's, all m96 in Husqvarnas and Carl Gustavs, nothing fancy but good, accurate working guns. The lack of gas shield can be partly alleviated by simply attaching a flat washer to the shroud ( pic below )
The rifle I use the most is a '96 Husky in 6.5x55 Improved, 21" barrel ( in the pic you will see that I was too lazy to cut the extra inch off the barrel when fitting the new stock ), turned down bolt handle and fitted an old Tasco 6x scope, I picked up the stock from a gun show for $80, the recoil pad is only to add LOP because I am 6'4" and have Orangutan arms !! Shooting 129gr Hornady interlocks at around 27-2800 FPS, I have never had to shoot an animal twice. As I said, nothing fancy, a working gun that I did the alterations to myself.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
