I JUST BOUGHT A CUSTOM FN MAUSER IN 30 COUGAR CALIBER

I am ready for hunting with this rifle. With the rifle sighted 2-5/8" high at 100yds as shown above, bullet strike at 300yds is about 3-5/8" low, and still has over 2,000 ft/lbs energy. So ... aim at heart from zero to 300yds, equals a dead animal.

I think P.O. Ackley might have been first with .. "Short Magnums"
He did a #1 , #2 , #3 all slightly different to each other but ALL belted
PT&G were kind enough to provide me with the chamber prints
I wonder if there are chamber prints for the 30 Cougar ?
They were different to your 30 Cougar as I do not remember them having 40deg shoulders ?
Most of the other belted magnums have 25deg shoulders

The markings on the stock are I think in keeping with the Cougar ( Native American ) iconography ?

Hello all. I finally had a chance to take the action out of the stock... the action was stamped ... FN - made in BELGIUM ... I also found a stamp on the barrel .. R.M.OSBAHR ... the date ... 08 06 60 ... and CARMICHAEL'S ... (while searching the internet I found a M1-Garrand with a barrel that had a similar stamp and a 1955 date) ... I also found the M-2 Canjar Match Trigger and that the action was glass bedded. No wonder its such a good shooter.

wow, that is fantastic. My father toured the bench rest circuit and all of his bench guns had Canjar triggers.

Its a nice looking rifle with a Striped Maple stock with several contrasting inlays. It was made in the 1960s. I don't have the rifle in hand yet. I should have it by early next week.

Here's my question .... what is a 30 Cougar? It doesn't come with brass or dies an I will do a chamber cast when it arrives.
So, in the meantime .. what is a 30 Cougar?

@buckstix
And here's me thinking cougars are usually over 50 and single that chase younger men/boys.
Even an internet search turned up nothing.

Well done mate.
You are a true rifle looney of the highest standards.
To do such a thing requires a dedication and a curious mind and an ability to adapt and overcome.
Your dedication is something else
Well done
Bob

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
