Heym factory visit?

They used to make a single shot break-action (kipplauf) rifle - the Model 44B. I bought a brand new one just over 20 years ago, but I'm unsure when or why they ceased making them. A shame as they are extremely nice rifles. Mine is in 7x57.
I have read somewhere that they might be building a kipplauf on the 26B on custom order but I cant seem to find it now.

Has anyone per chance visited the Heym factory in Germany? Is it worth a visit? I am particularly interested in their CNC machining to see how they achieve what they do.
Hi Kevin

Yes my son and I did a few years back. Also did Holland & Holland with the help of a great friend who is a world class skeet shooter and works for Spartan Precision. We did H&H this Xmas and Hyem 3 years ago or so.. It is 100% worth it!!! I meet the guy who made by .404. Big big difference between the 2, but both make exceptional rifles. I can post some pics of H&H also if anyone wants to see. That short guy in the pics regulates every double they make. Thousands of shots a year and a few hundred from 600s even. I have a pic of a .700 from H&H as well.

Recommend anyone who can go, go. Heym consistently offers discounts to hunters who tour (at least, they do to the Americans working for the US government who have German hunting licenses).
They will if you are stationed there, if a US citizen only you still have to go through Chris.

Thank you for this Paul, very enlightening. Far more humanity involved than I thought would be the case, but I suppose this is the assembly side. I would love to see the CNC side too, but they seldom show that side.
