Hello I’m new to the board and have a quick question about .460 ammo

Too much power for Canada

@Edward1970 your knowledge and understanding of firearms is very poor. You should spend time studying up on sporting arms and their attributes and that would include sporting ammo. Then not only would your questions make more sense to members of a forum such as this, you would also learn the majority of the answers yourself from you studies. Good Luck
I was just asking a question. The .460 is new to me so I had some questions. You still never answered my original question, but others did. Not sure what “ make more sense “ means since it’s a message board where people have questions especially ones that are new to this type of hunting and large caliber ammo, but thanks for your response.

Yes and a 375 which I have ammo for.

At least you have a backup DG rifle. Maybe it's a good time to get into reloading. You could put out wanteds ads and slowly accumulate what you need for the 460. I pesonally can't stomach the price of big bore factory ammo and even shooting premium bullets I can reload for two or three bucks or less per round. You can reload to your recoil tolerance as well.

Otherwise just keep your eye out and put up some wanted ads.

If you haven't purchased the 460 Weatherby mag rifle yet do some looking on here. There are a number of threads talking about it and if it is needed for any African game animal. There is even a thread about why African PH's don't like Weatherby's.

I know for me years ago I thought that it was the cats meow. A rifle that shoots a bullet with 4 tons of energy had to be the best to shoot large game with. But that isn't the case. I have shot a 460 and let me tell you it is a experience like no other. But then I haven't shot any of the larger 500+ calibers either and after shooting that 460 I don't know if I would want to. But then I like to experience new things in the shooting world. But there is a difference between shooting and owning one.

As I mentioned in a post above somewhere. No matter where you find that 460 ammo, now or in the future you are going to pay up for it. Expect it to be around $150+ for a box of 20. And quite likely that will not be with a premium bullet. I shoot a .340 Weatherby and while a box of Weatherby ammo for it shooting the standard Hornady bullets runs around $50-$75 a box of 20, the premium bullets loadings will be in the $125-$150+ range for a box of 20. But then I reload for a lot less than factory rounds. You also need to figure if you can walk into a store and just purchase a box of that ammo. Very few stores will actually stock it since none of Weatherby's cartridges are that widely poplar. So if you head to Africa to hunt a buffalo and your ammo doesn't show up you are pretty much out of luck and will have to use one of the outfitters rifles. That is what I planned to do if my ammo didn't show up on my first safari.

As promised, help since you already have the rifle. Looks like only brass is available right now. Good Luck!

In July I was at the Weatherby factory in Sheridan Wyoming and they had quite a bit of 460 weatherby ammo, I'd give them a call and see if they can ship some to you.

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
