Guess that cartridge

30-30 was also my initial call but the clue that it was only chambered in one line of rifles makes me think of something obsolete like a 348 Winchester perhaps?

.348 Winchester

Onto google now - which tells me that the 307 has a shorter neck than the 06. Whereas the 348 has a substantially longer neck than the 06. And the pic suggests the mystery case has a longer neck than the 06. So I'm sticking with the 348!

The neck diameter also 'looks' bigger than the 06 but the pic is not clear (307 would the same as the 06?), so it may be my imagination.

Im going to go with the old 32 special or 348 winchester- after more research I believe that this is the 348 winchester for sure

BINGO! While you did have a ? after .348, that's it. Give that man a kewpie doll!

If you look closely you will notice the round has a very large rim which is a big clue. Lets see some more of this, it can be more challenging than I thought.

Here's a new one. One of the cartridges I love and will hopefully be joining the family soon. Came late to the party when produced. On the left is a 308 win. whats on the right? Google gives this one away, so no searches off the bat...
