well I have to let this m70 .458wm super express go…
i bought this rifle earlier this year from the original owner. This is a mid 90’s production (I believe) and it was new in box until last Feb. when it was cleaned of the ‘packing oil’ and fired about 10 times by him. He started a custom build and needed the funds for a gorgeous stock blank, so I took it.
The rifle is in flawless condition, I can find no marks to mention or photo but it has been fired. The bluing is outstanding snd actually has some nice figure in the wood

M70 CrF action
this has the pre-64 style trigger too, not the moa
22” barrel
nice flip down island style rear sight and i white bead front
monte carlo style stock that I dare say is definitely more svelte than the current production m70’s in the safari line. The shorter barrel definitely offers improved in-hand feel! The action is bedded in the stock.

i could definitely elaborate more, but I reckon ya’ll know what you’re looking at. I’m not a m70 expert but will certainly try to answer any questions you may have. If I cannot then I know we can get some members advice.
I have chosen a few pictures that best represent the rifle but I have more taken and I am happy to text them or email them if needed.

Winchester isn’t running theses safari calibers too often anymore. I called them and spoke with a nice employee that stated, “they hadn’t run any in the last couple years“ and said “if I ordered one today“ from them “I wouldn’t expect the rifle to be in production for approximately 2years”
unfortunately Winchester is more interested in poly stocked cheap rifles, evidenced by the lack of most any m70 on the market.
if you’re looking then I know you know that they are harder to find at the moment.

i‘d like to get $1700 for the rifle + shipping to your ffl.
I might be interested in doing some trading for a m70 alaskan in 375hh (maybe 338wm)
please let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to provide more pics, pics to prove I have the rifle too. I have had some great dealings on this forum but I’m certainly not way up there in post count. I’m active on other forums and I’m happy to provide that info too.
cheers, gents!

That looks like a great deal for someone!

Nice rifle for someone for sure! After the custom shop, special order rifles... the Super Express was the nicest of the regular production New Haven Win M70s.

Excellent rifle and a great buy. Congrats to both buyer and seller.

Congratulayions to both buyer and seller. Fine looking rifle.

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
