I’m offering up for sale a Weatherby Mark V 340 Weatherby Magnum in stainless with the Weatherby brake. Also included a set of RCBS dies, 50 rounds of new Norma brass, 30 rounds new Nosler brass and 20 rounds once fired Nosler brass. I bought it used and have only put 20 rounds through it. Also have a set of Talley scope ring/bases. It has a small scratch on trigger guard, other than that excellent shape. $1,200 takes everything plus shipping to your FFL.

Nice looking rifle and very good deal even without all the extras!

Hmmm...

I hate to say, but unless I am drastically wrong (improbable in this case...), this is not a stainless steel rifle but a carbon steel rifle that is factory nickel electroplated.

To the best of my knowledge Japan-made "silver" Mark V with blue steel bottom metal were all nickel plated. Not until Mark V were made in the US, in Saco, Maine, did Weatherby introduce true stainless steel rifles. These are recognizable by the fact that their serial numbers start with SS; their action say "Made in USA"; they are typically dull grey rather that satin shinning; and their bottom metal is stainless steel too, although only the earlier two-piece bottoms were truly stainless steel and the later one-piece bottoms were "pot metal" cast.

By the way, Weatherby discontinued true stainless rifles a while back and reverted to carbon steel for their Weathermark, except that currently, instead of nickel plating the rifles, their cerakote them silver.

Do not read me wrong, it is a great rifle, but stainless steel it likely is not...

It's hard to tell but it does look a lot my 340.

Mine was made here in the US and is stamped as MADE IN USA. I did notice that the floor plate doesn't have the W on it like mine does. Also mine came with a thread protector that you can install after you remove the screw on brake.

But however you look at it $1200 is a great deal

Ok, I did a little more research. Based on the Serial number it is an Alaskan model manufactured in 1995. This model is nickel as @oneday pointed out. When I bought it, it was presented to me as stainless and since he was an old gunsmith I didn’t question him. I had no intent of misrepresenting this rifle so I apologize for any confusion. With all that said I think asking the price is still reasonable. Thanks for looking!

The price is more than reasonable, and if I didn't already have one I would be all over it.

You can see the barrel of mine sticking up over my left shoulder in my avatar.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
