Flight to Bulawayo via Jo‘burg

I‘m flying Emirates to Jo‘burg and from there Airlink to Bulawayo. Will the rifle get checked through or must I take it to SAPS at Jo‘burg International? There won‘t be much time between arrival and departure, that‘s why I hope the rifle will get checked through.
