Is anybody else attending the DSC member's swap meet this Saturday? At the clubhouse 11-3. Free burgers and beer!

On the website as "Burgers and beer..."

Quite a few nice firearms and other gear from people I know that will be there.

Funny, I’m a life member and this is the first I’ve heard of it…

Same… wife and I have been life members for a long time… first I’ve heard…

Email looked like this:

I’ll still be in South Africa or I’d think about going..

Not because I need a burger, beer, or any new gear… but I would be curious to see the dynamic between executive leadership, board members, and local Dallas area members…

It’s no secret that the relationships between leadership and the board and the membership have experienced a lot of strain over the past few years.. DSC as an organization has largely gone quiet from what I can tell over the last 6 months over the Atlanta debacle…

I’ve been detached enough over the last couple of years that I honestly don’t know the organizations intended path forward anymore, how all of the conflicts are impacting (or not) membership, vendor relationships, etc..

Granted the people attending would be a small representation of the total population, and most likely all in attendance would be pretty strong loyalists or fairly new members…

But I think it would still be interesting to see, and be a good opportunity to gauge whether or not I personally would want to re-engage with the organization anytime in the near future…

No email to me either. Just checked with the rest of the board in Oklahoma and none of them were notified. Sounds like just a good ‘ol boys club meeting.

Opening day of bow season, and I bet not a single person brought it up in their meetings.

So, no, I will not be there but I bet it will be fun.

I’m in Virginia but I did get an email about it. Not attending obviously but would like to hear how it goes.

I hear yah, but I would think with the random fundraiser and Atlanta show emails they send out; you’d think they would advertise this better.
I've never heard of this either. Not last year or this year and I am a Life Member as well. The DSC Big Bore shoot is not well advertised either and something I'd like to attend someday.

That's odd. I received an email from them about a month ago -- and I'm no longer a member (allowed it to lapse at the first of this year). In fact, I received a second email from them today asking me to join DSC and the "Burgers, Beer, and Member Gear" is listed as an Upcoming Event partway down the email.

Not attending though. Not during the deer season.

Agreed, I’ve never been able to get my schedule to work for the shoot but want to attend someday.

As for the swap meet, I understand not wanting it to blow up and be crowded if it’s not meant to be…. But an email to the life memberships would be nice.

I’d also like to know how it went.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
