After my hunt this last May I saw some inner horns from a Kudu that had been polished and thought that they looked very unique. So I had my taxidermist in South Africa polish mine. Now I need to figure out a great way to display them.

When I first saw some of them the owner just had them laying on a bookshelf and while that is a nice way to display them I would like to figure out a unique way of doing it. So far I have though about building a small box that I can stand each one upright in and then mounting them on the wall next to the kudu mount when It comes home. I have also thought about standing them next to each other in a small box where they mirror what they would look like while still on the kudu.

So my question for those of you that have done this is how did you display them, I'm open to all ideas.

    Thanks.

Zululand Taxidermy had one of mine made into a centerpiece for the dinner table displayed horizontally with legs and tips, and one made into a candelabra. I'll post pictures as soon as they arrive, should be two weeks or so.

My vote so far is for the wall lamp rendering in Wheels' photo that he posted here today.

I have seen lamp ideas for them but would really like to get away from that type of display.

I was thinking more along the lines of a way to display them on a wall that actually showed what they were.

I even thought about seeing if I could find a plastic euro type kudu skull and placing them onto it.

How about the skull they cam from. or did you not have the taxidermist send it to you ?
when I was in Namibia I saw a kudu skull hanging up in a tree with just the inner horns attached , sun bleached ,Looked really good. Forrest

    Rob44, I'd like to see a photo.

Forrest, I am having a shoulder mound done and they'll use the base of the horns on the mount so I would end up with a skull minus the top part.
I was actually thinking of a skull with the polished inner horns attached. That is were I would need to see if I could find a replica skull somewhere. I have done a couple of quick searches with a few results but nothing that I actually liked or could uses.

That is kind of one of the ideas that I have had only instead of a table top mounted in a small box that I will make and then hung from the wall.

    Hi Rob.
    My avatar is from Namibia.
I hunted in 2008 in the areas Omalanga Safaris.
My PH Philip drove me to his friend who found and raised two cheetahs.
This picture is my favorite trophy from Africa.

Really amazing Witold I love the big cats, I spent a day at the DeWildt Cheetah Rescue center and had a chance to get real close to those amazing animals, that experience would be worth the price of the trip in my opinion,Thanks,Rob

Being up close and personal with those cats is a very special moment.

On my safari the outfitter arrange for us to spend a day with them on a hunt. After they missed on a kudu they found some springbuck.
In this photo I could hear bones cracking.
I'll also have to say that it was a experience that I would not of traded, it in itself would make the trip to South Africa worth it.
