Do any of our members have experience in loading for the 429 DE, particularly heavy for calibre projectiles such as 300gr XTPs etc. In the early days, the cartrdige was a purely in house product with 200gr and 240 gr offerings. Since then the cartridge has become SAAMI approved and recently Starline have commenced selling 429 brass direct to the reloaders market. Still there is a shortage of load data for anything that would be suitable for large bodied game.

Likewise, does anyone have experience in using the red dot mounts made by EGW which replace the rear sight. It would position the sight in a more holster compatible location than mounted on the barrel rail. However I'm wondering whether it would lose out in accuracy being mounted on the slide rather than the barrel.

I've been contemplating an L6 model fitted with a 10 inch barrel. I've seen reports of the 50AE version sending a 300gr bullet at around 1500 to 1600 fps. Given the 429DE uses the same volume case, it should get similar velocities.

The .429 is similar to the 440 corbon, except for the shoulder location and angle. I have a friend that loads for the 440 on a custom marlin 1894, with some heavier bullets. I do know he prefers a 265 gr bullet made by hornaday that gives impressive performance. Not sure on the numbers, but I do know he loads his out to about an OAL of 1.9". I could reach out to him and ask about load data, if that interests you.

I will say the 50 AE is an absolute joy in my eyes. I have a Marlin 1894 modified to take 1.9" 50 AE and out of a 16.25" barrel in getting about 1700 fps with a 400 gr bullet!

In my eyes you can't go wrong with either one, so ultimately, why not get both!

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
