I figured I’d start a thread for some current projects everyone is working on. Help other guys get some ideas rolling and just a drop spot if you don’t want to make a dedicated thread.

Right now my current projects are:
Restocking a No.1 458 Win Mag (first time)
IMG_4790.jpeg

Building out an AR-10 in 308 for hog/deer
Constant tinkering with my go to AR-15

Planned projects:
The “Dixie Safari Rifle”, basically taking the Model 70 from my grandad and making it a DG style rifle for the southeast. Planning on rechambering it to be 458 Socom, express sights, barrel band, etc.

Feel free to share y’all’s projects, share tips, etc

I'm beginning my first Alkanet London finish on a favorite rifle.
I rust blue just about everything, and do it myself by the acid fume method.

Beautifully matched butt stock and forend. Should be stunning when completed. What a project!

I know the feeling…it’s hell getting older Bob!!!
@Rare Breed
Getting older definitely but ain't getting any wiser.
My other knee will need doing in the next 12 months. Some say I should have got both done at once but I'm to big of a wimp. There's only so much pain I can take in one go.
Getting it done with the MAKO robot assistance sure speeds up recovery and reduces trauma to the surrounding areas and accurate to within 0.3mm. Even after only 4 weeks I'm walking without any aids and have almost full movement.

This is so nice to hear. Gives me hope for when my turn comes!

The only project I'm working on at the moment is with my physical therapy to get my knee back in shape to get out bush again. Slow process but we will get there.

BOB if you were not using old 243 bbls for a walking stick you may do better ;). I am getting my right hip replaced in June, its no fun getting old, my last trip to the range my grandson had to put my 100 meter targets up for me i struggle to walk that distance. good luck with your knee. I am going to keep shooting even if it kills me.

@rdog
At my my size I would have to weld a couple of barrels together to make them long enough for a walking stick. Hip surgery is apparently better and easier recovery than knee replacement so I'm told.
I'm looking forward to getting back in the bush.

I’ve had both knees and a hip replaced. Rehab for knee replacement is brutal, at least for me it was. Hip was a breeze in comparison. Especially if they do the hip anterior approach.
Good luck.

Yes every body tells me a hip is not as bad as a knee i had my right knee replaced in 2010 not a lot of fun but a very good result , i am getting tired of the pain at night.

The Dixie Safari concept sounds cool. Please update as you can.

@Rumrunner
Using the robot for knee replacement made recovery a lot easier due to less damage to surrounding tissue.
The first 8-10 days were hell and I needed aids to walk,shower and crap. After 2 weeks thing were a lot better and by week 3 I only needed a cane to get around. Now in week 5 I still carry the cane for just in case but getting back to close on normal. I could drive after 3 weeks and drive a stick shift after 5-6 weeks. Follow your physical therapy and all will be well. I'm surprised at how quick the recovery has been.

Bob, just remember that the saying "no pain-no gain" is pure b/S take our time and heal properly. Take that from someone that did the no pain no game I paid for it

@Hyde Hunter
Some pain is good it lets you know you might be overdoing it but to much pain turns you off, does damage and slows healing. Learnt that one the hard way.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
