I picked up a Dakota rifle, vintage 2010. Need to mount an optic on it; looking at the Talley site it appears that Dakota used to tap for 6-48 screws and then at some point switched to 8-40 screws. Anybody have an idea when this switch was made so that I can figure out which bases to order? I have a call into Dakota, but answers are....slow in coming. Thanks!

In case anyone has the same question at some point ... I finally got an answer from Dakota today. They could not tell me the year of the switch but they said mine would be 8-40.

I hope this matters to me someday!

Dakota fever....

I was figuring they were out of my price range, but lucked into this one at less than half price for a brand new rifle. The dangers of Gunbroker / Guns International! Keep your eyes open!

The DAKOTA's can be fine rifles. Check with Talley. The last rifle I acquired needed special Talley rings to fit the Dakota bases. I believe the Dakota Talley bases are milled shorter, and the standard Talley rings will not fit. I just went through this with Talley.

Pic, or it didn't happen! :)

Thanks. Thanks exactly the route I went with. Talley does have Dakota-specific bases. My problem was they make two screw sizes for them! They are on order now though, so just biding my time until they get here.

Will do! Waiting on the bases and rings and will post a pic once she is all set up.

Here you go @tarbe. She is all dressed up and ready to hit the range. Dakota 375, synthetic stock, dressed with leupold vx6-hd 2-12 and talley qd rings.

That's going to be a killing machine!

Enjoy!

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
