I will be travelling with SAA to Joburg then a connecting flight to East London with approximately 3 hrs between the flights. On this occasion i will only be travelling with a bow, my question is this. Will my luggage and bow case be automatically be put onto the connecting flight or will i need to collect it as normal at Joburg. Also if i was traveling with firearms, would these need to be checked in at Joburg or my final destination East London.

I believe you will have to have your gun checked on arrival to RSA. The baggage collections is right by customs. So once you get your gun and luggage you have to check into East London flight.

If Joburg is the first point of entry into south africa you will have to collect the bow and clear customs. We had an archer travel with us and when we landed from Newark he had to go through the same drama we did.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
