Just had a client cancel their Brown Bear hunt and forfeit the deposit. The area is out of Port Alsworth and this is a 2x1 Fall Brown Bear hunt. This is a predator control area and the state is trying to reduce Bear numbers in the area. During the 10 day hunt you are allowed to take 2 Brown Bears and 5 Black Bears, no additional trophy fees for taking extra bears. Hunters will need to fly into Anchorage then charter to camp, charter is $1,500 PP. The camp is a tented camp with cots and fresh food. Hunters should be in reasonably good shape for the trip.

Dates for the hunt are August 20-30 in 2016, these dates coincide with the salmon run and berry season.

The 10 day hunt with all Bears included is $12,500 reduced to $10,500 PP plus charter $1,500, license and tags.

What a deal!!! You could get up to 7 bears!!! That's a lot of shooting! Just the thought of it make me go :Woot::Woot:!

Man that would be a hell of a hunt!

Wow!!

Is it the total of 7 bears per person or for both hunters? Either way that's quite the offer for an Alaskan bear hunt!

@Bsums its 7 bears each per hunter. I think realistically I would have 2 brown and 2 black tags in my pocket. If I take one good brown and one black, the hunt is already well worth it. Then have an extra brown tag to see if we can better it. They went 9 for 9 in the spring season.

@James Jeffrey - HuntingAgent.com I think that is more then realistic, the amount of work it is to clean and pack a bear is quite an undertaking. I'm pretty sure after the 2nd one, the adrenaline will have worn off and you are going to make sure it is well worth it before you have to pack one again. When I got my black bear, the battle was getting it off the mountain, I can only imagine the work it takes to get a grizzly/brown bear back to camp.

Wow. This is one heck of a deal!

Have been watching your posts about this offer. It looks like the deal of a lifetime. Could I get you to e-mail or snail mail me detailed info about this?? I assume you have to buy tags for each bear you shoot? I need to know all the costs involved besides airfare to and from Alaska so I can figure how much the total cost will be. I'll need a gear list also and how much down payment I need to come up with and when the balance will be due. I'm not positive I can swing this trip right now. I wasn't planning on booking a high dollar trip this year because most of my funds are tied up,so I'm not sure I can shake enough loose in 2 months. Any and all info will be appreciated. I really want this trip because I've always wanted a brown bear. To have a chance at two, and be able to reduce the black bear population while I'm at it is unbelievable!!!
Thanks a bunch,
Dave Boso

Is this an outfitted hunt, where the outfitter drops you off with equipment and food, but you're on your own for the hunt itself? (Illegal for non-residents.)

Or is it a hunt provided by a licensed Alaska guide, the equivalent to what would be called a PH in Africa?

I'd recommend against hunting brown/grizzly bears without an experienced backup shooter, like a guide.

James, I need more info. like Dave Boso If one hunter wants to book this hunt and needs another hunter, I maybe in.

.............. The area is out of Port Alsworth and this is a 2x1 Fall Brown Bear hunt. ..........

I think that detail answers the question about it being a guided hunt. :)

@RolandtheHeadless this is a fully outfitted guided hunt. It is against the law for an out of state hunter to hunt brown/grizzly without a registered guided.

@RUGER77 i need two hunters to make it work. I would be very hesitant to put two people together who did not know each other on a hunt like this.

Truly one my most favorite hunts is when I took my brown and grizzly bears. You will hunt hard and you will feel immense amounts of frustration and disappointment until the moment of truth arrives. Magnificent animals and trophies.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
