Bison Kills Hiker

If you don't have a rifle, 100 yards is too close.

after being raised on a farm, i learned not to trust any milkers or bulls and had several run ins with a few that needed shot and butchered the next day, dad was pretty quick to take care of any trouble makers. one that was shot was a large bull who tried to pin me into a stone wall when i was cleaning his pen, i drove the tines on a pitch fork 3-4 inches into his side to get away from him, dad shot him the next morning.

Just a reminder of the unpredictability of ALL bovines:

My wife and I were charged by a cow Bison on the Pine Gree reservation. They are faster than you might expect. Respect them, do not follow them, give them plenty of space.

Perhaps they should not have continued to follow the much larger animals at 50 yards and made them feel like they were threatened. Would probably still be alive had they not been so foolish.

sad, but true.
