I am curious as to the differences between the RSA and Namibia with regards to wing shooting opportunities. I am planning to go on safari in '23 but would like to tack on some wingshooting as well. I know that the RSA has good wingshooting (with varied species) but am less familiar with the species and types of wingshooting available in Namibia. Any information would be appreciated!

I've taken my shotgun with me a couple of times and shot Guinea fowl, Egyptian geese and Sand Grouse.
Made a nice change to do something different. If you speak to your outfitter I'm sure they can help you out.
Some charge but most don't.

I believe I've seen wingshooting hunts listed on book your hunt. Maybe search Namibia hunts and speak to an outfitter directly.

To each his own. I’ve taken some guinea fowl and that is ok but I go to Africa to pursue big game. It’s kinda like those who relish the chance to fish while on safari. I mean if your done hunting sure but dedicating much time to it is just not for me.
That said I love Namibia and don’t discount the experience there, it’s great. RSA is bigger and more cultivation therefore more birds.
Happy Safari planning!
Philip

RSA has a well developed bird hunting industry.
I have friends who have gone to RSA to solely/exclusively hunt birds.
Different species and a huge diversity are available.
The problem is timing.
Like other areas of the world Migration of waterfowl and the hunting season coincide in the fall.
Not when I typically show up to hunt.

Grouse and Guinea fowl, Doves are available in both RSA and Namibia.

I've hunted birds on every trip across Southern Africa. If you are a bird hunter you just have to.

Orange River Partridge over pointers.
Egyptian Geese - spot and stalk.
Doves - pass shooting
Helmeted Guinea Fowl - walked up in a variety of cover.
Sand Grouse / Francolin- walked up and pass shooting.

I will try shooting birds over a seed crop one day.

That's my thinking. I love bird hunting, especially over pointers and look forward to doing some wingshooting when I go.

Hi Frank

There is great bird ahooting in south africa and it can be tagged on to a safari no problem
I have a great bird shooting outfitter whom i send my hinting clients too
Bird shooting is a specialised profession and takes a lot of homework etc before the clie ts arrive
i am not a bird shooting outfitter i do game plains and big game and all my time is taken up doing that...as best i can
So i choose to send clients to a specialist fora special and professional experience

Regards
