I know there are many threads on travelling with suppressors out of USA, and the 5320.20 form is pretty simple to fill out.
What is question 10. State Department License No.? I can't find any information on this.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

And unless the ATF has changed things the 5320.20 form is just for temporary export of NFA firearms like machine guns and SBR’s.

Just received my approval for second time. Question 10, leave it blank. I carry the 5320.20 and have silencer listed on CBP 4457 as well, might be unnecessary but it's simple

Thank You Kdenn.

I just put my suppressor on my 4457 and take that, no questions asked in Atlanta or Newark

I just cleared my rifle inbound through Newark this morning, and since there was a several minute wait between the United staff taking me from CBP to recheck my rifle, I asked the CBP officer about suppressors. He said he hadn't seen one in a while, but also acknowledged the African hunting season was just getting going, so it had been slow recently.

He'd never seen any issues with suppressors going through Newark, and added that their area is a Federal space. He said to include it on your 4457 and that should be fine.

Take it for what it's worth, but I figured I'd at least ask since I had an opportunity, and he was very pleasant.

Thanks for the info. Hope you had a good hunt.

Well, my form came back "Disapproved" due to leaving "10. State Department License No." Blank.

Still looking for guidance as to what this is.

Might be related to form 6's for import and export licenses. Good luck on your search.

I just got back from my recent trip to South Africa. All Customs cared about was what was filled out on the 4457 form. I brought two rifles and two suppressors with me.

don't worry about it, 2 years ago I applied and was approved, my buddy filled his form out exactly as I did we were going to the same place and dates he was disapproved 3 times and they would not even talk to him. put it on your 4457 and just go don not think any more about it

I got an email back from my submission asking me about that field. I replied that I was an individual and not a registered business. They acknowledged and said they'd put the request through.

In the end, it does all seem incredibly variable.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
