I’ve used the CCI #34 variant. Essentially it acts like a (hard) large rifle magnum primer.
Same here. The primary purpose of the Military rifle primer is

#1. A thicker cup to prevent slam fires in the Stoner/Armalite platform from the free floating firing pin.

#2. Sustain higher pressures without rupture, especially in full auto and high rate of fire weapons.

#3. Allow the primer to be crimped or staked to the case.

As with any change in components, it's a good idea to go back to a starting load, the work your way back up in powder charges while looking for any signs of excessive pressure.

I've also used the CCI #34 for many years. They work very well for most all of large rifle primer needs, including magnums up to 375 Ruger

That'd be great if they're good for my 375H&H that would leave more magnums for the 416. Thanks a lot for the info guys.

Well damn while I was here asking yall about them they sold out. Thanks again for the info at least I'll know next time.

Mate he who snoozes loses.
Next time but then, you can always in sell them at the same price if'n you don't like them.

the CCI 34 and 41 are both magnum primers. I suppose the military would want added reliability for ignition. I have used the 41s and don’t notice any difference. I have 2000 of the 34s on the shelf and will used them for my semiautomatic and magnum needs.
Correct! CCI 34s are the only primers I use for 375HH, 416 Rem and 450 Watts. Reliable snd consistent primers.

same here. I use them for my FAL loads cloning 762 nato 147 gr fjm rounds.
No problems at all.
But to the OP - I've never used the Winchester brand.

I do believe the slightly harder primer is for gas powered automatic weapons to ameliorate possibility of slam fire on sloppy firing pin springs when the bolt closes at speed.

For non gas-guns, I just use the CCI BR2 for up to 30-06 and then switch to magnum primers for 375.

Hope that helps.

Meh, 6 months.. necro is years.

Per the primers, I only ever used std CCI 200 LR primers in the .375 H&H, nary a problem with full charges, with extruded powders.

I have used cci 34 as LR primers no issues with max loads.

As has been posted, “snooze and lose”. Components will not get easier to find. Hold out for a specific X Y or Z component… good luck! For LR magnum primers I would rank the CCI 34 at the top. For me they have been the most consistent magnum primer in dimension and performance I’ve ever used. I have no idea about other so-called “NATO” primers???

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?

Hi Green Chile, I just recently bought a 470 NE barrel for my Thompson Center TCR 83-87 single shot. Im just looking for some 470 NE to shoot at the range just to try it out. I dont need anything special but I just wanted to see what you have left. I dont necessarily even need a full box.
Thanks
Bill
